E. Neil Proudfoot, 80, passed away on June 28, 2009 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer and Parkinson's Diseases. He was born in Belington, West Virginia on April 1, 1929. He graduated from Belington High School in 1947 and then went on to complete an Associate of Fire Science Degree at the University of Akron. Neil retired in 1987 after 37 years of service at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. as Manager of Plant Fire Protection, traveling worldwide during his career for Goodyear International. After retirement, he and his wife Patricia relocated to Belington, West Virginia from 1989-2004. He was a former member of Tallmadge United Methodist Church and a current member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Belington. He also belonged to the United Methodist Men, the church choir, and the Kiwanis. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and sharing his vegetables with others. Neil was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Adkins) Proudfoot and daughter, Jennifer Proudfoot. He will be missed by his daughter, Janice (Brian) Shriber of Wooster; sons, Michael (Cynthia) of Akron and Wayne (Sharon) of Canton; twin brother, C. Noel (Henrietta) Proudfoot of New Bern, NC; sisters, Zelma (Sterling) Yeager of Elkins, WV and Mary Belle (Carl) Simmons of Edmunds, WA; grandchildren, Amanda (Alex) Pummell, Andrew Shriber, Amy Shriber, Brittney (Dan) Moore, Brandon Proudfoot, Kelli (Devin) Schafrath, and Benjamin Proudfoot; and great-granddaughter, Heidi Lynn Pummell. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Tallmadge United Methodist Church, 207 N. Munroe Rd., Tallmadge, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment at Tallmadge Cemetery.
