Earl Brown

Earl Brown, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 8, 2008. He was born in Toronto, Canada on March 2, 1918 and moved to Akron at the age of 5. Earl proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 40 years. Never actually "retiring," he worked at Chapel Hill Christian School until 2005. He was a member of the Goodyear Retirees Club Local # 2 and a long-time, faithful member of Chapel Hill Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Elizabeth Schadle Brown; and his brother, Gordon Dorsey. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Dorothy Brown of Tallmadge; daughters, Pat (Jerry) Morrow of Akron and Lorraine (John) Mitchell of Tallmadge; son, Kevin Brown of Akron; step-children, Dorothy Perrin of Indiana and Charles Gross of Florida; grandchildren, Eric (Misty) Morrow and Matthew (Mary) Mitchell; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Riffle of Barberton; brother, Robert (Shirley) Dorsey of Florida; dear friend, Jim Webster; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron and Saturday from 10 - 11 a.m. at Chapel Hill Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 1160 Howe Ave., Cuyahoga Falls where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jon Stoltzfus officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Summa, 444 N. Main St., Akron OH 44310 or Chapel Hill Church.
