Eddie Lee Jones, affectionately known as "Ted or Teddy," was called home to be with the Lord on October 4, 2021 at the age of 56. He was born on December 25, 1964 in Akron, Ohio, the son of the late Betty J. Johnson and Eddie Lee Russell.
He attended the Akron Public and Houston Independent Schools during his youth, but lived the majority of his life in Akron. Many years after high school, he acquired his CDL license and primarily worked in the moving industry. In his primary years, he displayed a passion for the piano, often playing catchy notes taught to him by his uncle, David Cook. Ted later gravitated to the keyboard where he became a self-taught, skilled player. Over the past several years, he composed over 100 songs in which he took great pride in his accomplishment.
He will be remembered as a fun, loving and silly person who always had a smile on his face and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Ted loved his children and was excited about spending time with them. The smile he has now is because of the joy of the Lord. Ted accepted Christ in his life and loved talking about the goodness of God. The day the Lord touched Ted, He sent him to Psalms 25:8-22.
Other than his parents, Eddie was preceded by his step-father, Johnnie Johnson; his siblings, Lawrence Cook, Anthony Jones and Elizabeth "Penny" Price Jemirson.
Eddie leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Brandon Jones and Desiree Jones; his siblings, Evelyn Sadiku, Janet Asi, Michael (Regina) Jones and Johnnie (Tequilla) Johnson Jr.; his grandchildren, Lilyana, Alyjah and Kieran Jones; the mother of his children, Tanya Cooper Moreland; his devoted friend, Angie Knox; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 1:00 PM, where family and friends may visit from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
Burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery, Akron, Ohio.
