Eddie L. Williams, 74, of Copley, OH passed away peacefully at home on January 16, 2021. He was born to parents Wallace and Jessie Williams on April 29, 1946.
Eddie was a 1964 graduate of Akron South High School, and worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber in the summers. He went on to go to Akron University where he played football. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965. After serving for 2 years, he went back to work for Firestone Tire and Rubber, eventually working at PPG Paint, while attending school in the evenings to become a computer draftsman. He also worked for NASA, Diebold and Timken. Eddie was one of the few black men that started in the computer aide and drafting field and was very well known in the industry. Eddie was a private man, and was an amazing artist, loved jazz, and took great pride in his appearance.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, James, Morris and Wallace Jr. Williams; sisters, Ruby Lee and Bobby Ann; and nephew, Roger Williams.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Brent (Theresa) Williams; grandchildren, "Little Brent" (Achsah), Touche', Brentaya, Anthony (Erikka), Edmund (Gabrielle) and Brianna; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, the matriarch Mary Brunson who is the last of the 6 siblings; and a host of relatives.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH at 1:00pm with calling hours one hour prior. He will be later laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
