Edith Mae Caslow

Edith Mae Caslow, age 91, of Lakeland, Florida, formerly of Brimfield, Ohio, passed away on January 18, 2021 in Lakeland.

She was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on July 15, 1929, the daughter of the late Uho and Lina (nee Niemi) Karvonen.

She moved to Akron shortly after graduating high school and married James Vernon Caslow Sr. "Vern" in 1949. Edith worked for 27 years at Monsanto Company and retired in 1989. She loved animals and always had a cat or two, mostly strays she adopted from the neighborhood, and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels.

Other than her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband on February 27, 2002; and her step-father, Walter A. Nisula, Sr.; and her brother, Walter A. Nisula, Jr.

Survivors include her three sons, James (Laurel) of Tallmadge, Alan (Karline) of Brimfield and William (Christine) of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jason (Katelyn), Kevin (Heather), Matthew (Vanessa), Kerry and Brian Caslow; and four great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Maddox, Alexander and Madeleine.

All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Newcomer Funeral Home, Akron, Ohio.

Mrs. Caslow will be buried next to her husband in Restland Cemetery, Brimfield, Ohio.
