Edmond Lee Johnson Sr. (a.k.a N8HJY) was born May 1, 1934 in Selmer, Tennessee. He was a U.S Army veteran stationed in France during the Korean War. He settled in Akron and worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber.
After 34 years of service, he retired and moved to Deltona, Florida. On November 21, 2016 at the age of 82, he entered into his heavenly home. Preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Brenda Joyce Johnson, he will be remembered by his children, Chantal Jorda, Martine Sennegon (Elie), Linda Johnson of Bordeaux, France, Terri Lyn Ellis (Thomas), Deltona, FL, Edmond Lee(Pete) Johnson Jr., Minneapolis MN, Napoleon "Stevens" Ingram Johnson, Atlanta GA, Christopher Johnson (Brandi) Jacksonville FL, Paul Johnson, Akron, OH; his grandchildren, Alexander Dillworth (JoAnne), Jordan Jacquot-Johnson, Kevin Jacquot-Johnson, Richard Sennegon (Julie), Julia Jorda, Christopher Johnson II(Amanda), Stephan I. Johnson, Jocelyn Berding-Johnson, Thomas Ellis Jr., Jasmine and Jade Johnson, Kylie McDade, Brandon Johnson, Aqueelah Mahdi; 6 Great-Grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
The family wishes to thank his special daughter-in-law, Brandi McDade-Johnson, who cared for him in her home and made him as comfortable as possible until Edmond passed peacefully in his sleep. Ed was a proud man who tried to help as much as he could, whenever he could. He was a self-educated licensed Ham Radio Operator who was considered an expert by other enthusiasts. He loved to travel, drink great wine, history and music and telling stories.
He will be honored on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. The family will receive guests from 4:00-5:30pm at Newcomer Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will take immediately follow from 5:30 - 6:00pm. A Graveside Blessing and Internment will take place at Mt. Peace Cemetery on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 11:45am. Condolences may be sent to 2420 Fountain Rd. Deltona, FL. 32738.
