Edna "Ginnie" Virginia Amos Sherwood (nee Vance)
Edna "Ginnie" Virginia Amos Sherwood (nee Vance) went home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Swords Creek, VA and lived here in Ohio for many years. She had a will, determination, and courage that helped her survive many years of hardship and tragedies. She is at peace now with her Lord. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Eddy) McCafferty, of Cuyahoga Falls; sisters, Beulah Kline, of Winchester, VA, Phyliss Lee, of Bristol, VA; many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much, and too many to mention here. She is also survived by special friends Barb Ball, of Fairlawn and Pat Mogart, of Akron; her daughter's mother-in-law Alice Beres of Essex Healthcare Center; and all of Sharon's many friends who knew her mom as their "second mom". She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Amos, Sr.; her beloved mother Edna Vance Cole; sisters Ireland Vance, Jackie Barnes; brothers Charles Vance, Douglas Cole, and Johnson Vance. I will miss you more than you will ever know, mom, and I will see you again in heaven someday, where there is no more suffering, sorrow, tears, or death. Run on gleefully in your new perfect body and rejoice that you are home at last. A special thanks to Kent Health Care and all of their wonderful employees and to Harbor Light Hospice for their outstanding care of my mom during her last stay there. Thank you to Visiting Nurse and mom's special caregiver Belinda Citrano when she was able to be at home. A special thank you to Suzanna Malkamaki at the Area Agency on Aging, for without her dedication and help, I would not have been any to have such good services for my mom while she was at home. I love you mom. I will meet you on the other side someday. Calling hours will be Monday, 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, 11-11:30 a.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m., Chaplain Beth Niermann officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harbor Light Hospice.
