Claiming the promises of John 3:16, Edna L. Fiber went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 4, 2005 at the Hospice Care Center of Visiting Nurse Service. Edna was born on February 9, 1931 in Harlan County, Kentucky to the late C.L. and Pearl Brogdon. She moved to Akron in the 1950's and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Edna was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. She enjoyed collecting various memorabilia, following the political scene, reading, and being a good neighbor. She was always willing to extend a helping hand. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Helen Hummel. She is survived by sisters, Bobbie Smith of Missouri, and Gerri Stewart of Ohio, as well as several cousins, nieces and a nephew. The family will receive friends from 6 - 9 p.m. Friday at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. where funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with Bishop Crabtree officiating. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of VNS, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron OH 44333.
