Edna M. Starcher, 80, passed away November 26, 2009 after a long illness with cancer. Edna was born and raised in Akron and moved to Florida for 30 years. She retired from PBI Airport where she worked in security. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Wilbur Starcher; sons, Douglas and Pat Starcher; and parents, Thomas and Mae Edwards-Dorner. Edna is survived by her daughters, Susan (Tony) Hornbeck, Judy Starcher, and Karen Starcher; grandchildren, Tammy, Tony, Tim, and Lisa; great-grandchild, Carter; step-father, John Dorner; sister, Lauretta; brothers, Harold (Sonja) and Robert (Thelma); and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will follow immediately at 1 p.m. with Rev. Sherman Baily officiating. Entombment to follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be made to the Chapel of Prayer Church.
