Edward F. Carpenter, 87, went home to be with the Lord on January 17, 2010. Edward served with the US Army during WWII. He retired from General Metals Powder Company after 42 years of service and was a member of Eastgate Alliance Church. Edward enjoyed woodworking and camping trips with his family. Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Arlene; and sister, Louise Carlson. Survivors include his daughters, Donna Labate and Karen (Dave) Young; son, Richard; grandchildren, Kimberly, Melinda, Kevin, Christina, Heather, Tonya, Jason, Holli, and Nicole; 11 great-grandchildren; and nephew, Duane Carlson. Calling hours will be Thursday, 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
