Edward L. Fargo
Edward L. Fargo, 78, born December 16, 1928, died suddenly on April 1, 2007. Ed was a lifetime resident of the Akron area. He had been employed by Goodyear Aerospace-Loral Defense Systems for 41 years, retiring in 1989, after working on many Space and Defense projects. Ed was one of the first appointed Eucharistic Ministers in the Akron area, serving at Annunciation Catholic Church, Akron City Hospital, and St. Matthew Catholic Church. He had volunteered for many years with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and had sung with several choirs. He was a past member of The Wood-be-Carvers, The National Wood Carvers Association, K of C-Charles Reymann Council #4664, The Goodyear 25-Year Club, Ellet Golden Keenagers, and served on the Akron Bureau of Motor Vehicles. He enjoyed music, traveling, gardening, woodworking, and lapidary. He loved and was much loved by his wife, family, and his friends. Preceded in death by his loving wife Catherine (Strongoli) of 54 years. He leaves his son Anthony J. (Julia) Fargo; grandchildren Joseph, Mike, Jackie, Ruby, and Allison (Patrick); son Timothy E. (Sophia) Fargo; grandchildren Erika, Karl, and Alexandra; brother Jerry (Ann) Fargo; sister-in-law Angela Fargo; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Funeral service will be held Saturday, 9:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
