Edward H. Watson, 84, born February 25, 1928 in Akron, peacefully departed from his old life into his new life on May 2, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. A lifetime resident of Akron, he proudly served our country in the United States Army and was a WWII veteran. Ed retired from BFG in 1988 spending his time enjoying the outdoors and taking care of all the neighborhood cats.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Elsie Watson; son Rick; grandson, Chris Holgate; grand-daughter, Angela Pumphrey.
Ed is survived by his wife of 36 years, Betty; daughters, Peggy (Robert) Vicen, Kim (Doren) Holgate; Vickie (John) Fillinger; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and his special feline friend, Tom. The family would like to thank the staff of the Hospice Care Center for their wonderful care of Ed.
Family and friends may call on Friday, May 4 from 5-7 PM at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 5, at 10 AM with Rev. Fleary Spurlock officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Care Center of Copley.
