Edward "Joe" Hickman

July 29, 1927 — April 21, 2025

Cuyahoga Falls, OH

Edward G. "Joe" Hickman, 97, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2025, at Danbury Woods of Cuyahoga Falls. Joe was born on July 29, 1927, to Ira and Velmer (Groves) Hickman in Richwood, West Virginia. Following his education, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he honorably served for over ten years. After his military service, Joe worked in construction as a Pipe Layer until his retirement.

He found great joy in outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and bird and deer watching. Joe was also fond of indulging in white chocolate Reese cups and popcorn. Known for his hardworking nature, humor, and loving spirit, Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence will be profoundly missed. He embraced life fully and was ready for his next journey, both physically and spiritually.

Joe is survived by his children, Teresa (Rick) Welton, Janet (Tom) Butler, and Mark (Joyce) Hickman; his grandchildren, Bobbie Jo Feorene, Christie Haynie, Byron (Jennifer) Butler, Cassie Lockard, Ryan and Jared Hickman, Christina (Brian) Schall, Daniel, and Jimmy Michniak; his brother, Dave Hickman; and his great-grandchildren, Cole, Justin, Cayman, Bryce, Isaac, Eleanor, Katelynn, Liam, Austin, Kali, Audrey, and Maddison.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shelvie "Jane" Hickman, and siblings, Marie Blumenschein and Denver Hickman.

In accordance with Joe's wishes, there will be no funeral service; instead, a private gathering for immediate family has already been held. Joe will be laid to rest alongside his wife at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family is planning a picnic celebration of life to take place later this summer. They appreciate the love and prayers from all as they grieve and honor Joe's life.

For those wishing to honor Joe's memory, donations may be made to Warriors Journey Home (https://wjhm.org/donate/).
