Edward Casper Long
Edward Casper Long, 82, of Akron, died May 15,2005 at his residence after an extended illness. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the US Navy; a member of AA and St. Paul Catholic Church. He enjoyed baking, traveling, and camping, all with a sense of humor. Preceded in death by his parents, Benet and Ora (Draper) Long and his first wife Mildred Faye (Dunn) Long. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Arlene (Pfirman) Long; daughters, Sue (Burl) Hudgens, Anne (John) Meador, Sue (Tom) Beckwith, Linda (Duane) Burkhammer, Marlene (Thomas) Fickes and Margaret Clark; son, Bennett Long; step-sons, Mark, James, David and Daniel Clark; sister, Moline (Richmond) Roberts; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend special thanks to Norma and Marcy for their loving care. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral service Friday, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church with prayers at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery with military honors provided by Mogadore VFW 8487.
