Edward R. Nicely, 81, of Mogadore, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on October 4, 2024. Ed was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on October 9, 1942 to the late Draco and Alfreda Nicely.
Ed was a caring man with a soft heart. He was hard working and knew how to fix anything. He was always willing to help others with their yard, cars, or anything they needed. Known as the “King of the Neighborhood,” Ed always had a cold beer ready for whoever stopped by.
Over the years, he enjoyed hunting, camping and sitting around the bonfire with his friends and family. He was a fan of NASCAR, especially Rusty Wallace who he got to meet in a once in a lifetime encounter. He loved going to the casino, his favorite being the Hollywood Casino where he would play Buffalo. Ed cherished watching cowboy movies, especially with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Donald; sister, Darlene; and his parents-in-law, Alfred and Dorothy Gerry.
Left to cherish Ed’s memory is his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Nicely; daughters, Tammy (Steve) Billhimer and Michelle (Mark) Sampson; son, Edward G. Nicely; and grandchildren, Sierra, Shelby, Korrin, Brooke, Drake, and Abby (Levi).
Ed’s family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who has stopped by to visit or help over these last few months, and to Traditions Hospice for their loving care.
Per Ed’s wishes, there will be no services, but there will be a celebration of life Saturday October 19, 2024 from 12-4pm at his residence.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ed’s memory to Traditions Hospice.
