Edward Scott, 76, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2016. He was born on October 9, 1939 in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late Roy and Mollie Scott.
Ed retired from Ford Motor Company with over 40 years of service and was a member of the UAW. He attended both Liberty Freewill Baptist Church and True Vine Old Regular Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing with his family and friends.
Above all, Ed was devoted to his family. He loved family get togethers and never missed his grandchildren's events.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Charles, Ben, and Emmit Scott; sister, Mona Scott; and daughter-in-law, Angie Scott.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Carlene Scott; children, Mike (Tracy) Scott, Danny Scott, and Denna (Jon) Steiner; sister-in-law, Shelby Scott; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Akron City Palliative Care for all the kindness and compassion shown to Ed and his family.
Family and friends may call on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Dennis Elkins and Pastor Cecil Farmer officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
