Edward Thomas Shanley, "Ed", age 72 of Akron, Ohio, died on Friday, February 23, 2018, at Akron City Hospital.
Ed was born in New York City, NY, on March 15, 1945, the son of the late Albert and Katherine Shanley.
Ed was an over the road truck driver and was self-employed, he enjoyed driving all over the USA; he also owned and operated E T Shanley Trucking out of Mogadore, Ohio. He was a great provider and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His greatest joy was hanging out with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Kelly (Brandon Sams) Shanley and Steven C. Shanley; his three grandchildren, Michael Dobec and Helaina and Brock Beamer; and his half-brother, Robert of Canada.
Other than his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife, the former Gay Conley in August of 1996, they were united in marriage in 1978; and his half-brother, Alan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Akron Children's Hospital in Ed's memory.
There will not be any services or calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Newcomer Funeral Home-Akron.
