Edward Leroy "Fast Eddy" Sutherland, age 73 of Akron passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. A lifelong resident of Akron, Ed was born to the late James and Emmadelle {Snyder} Sutherland.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn Sutherland; brother Jim Sutherland.
Ed will be dearly missed by his wife of 49 years, Judy; daughter Tiffany (Geoffery) Ury; granddaughters Lotus and Meadow Ury and Czarina (Jay Howland) Sutherland; sisters Beverly (Frank) Barberito Barb Bundrick, Ginny (Gary) Glosner; sisters-in-law Linda Sutherland and Joyce (Doug) Leopard; beloved cat Velose of Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
After graduating from Ellet High School in 1968, Ed joined the United States Army, and served in Vietnam as a military police officer. Ed then went on to work for Ohio Edison as a lineman and trouble shooter, and retired after 35 years of service. He was a past President and JCI Senator of the Ellet Jaycees. Ed was an avid fisherman and a huge Ohio State fan. He loved life and adventuring, especially his trips to Mexico.
Per Ed's wishes, cremation has taken place, and military honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Friday, December 10 at 1:15 p.m. For those planning to attend, please arrive at the information building at the front of the cemetery no later than 12:55 p.m. To leave a message for Ed's family, please scroll below.
