Eileen Louise Jackson

Eileen Jackson, born July 27, 1929 in Akron, Ohio to the late George and Florence {Evans} Smith. She was preceded in death by husband Herb in 1986, infant daughter, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

She worked in the office of Kohn Beverage for 23 years and Summit County Treasurer's Office for 21 years.

She is survived by son Michael and special daughter-in-law Sheri and son Patrick; 4 grandchildren Michael (Haley), Brian (Jill), Kelly (Brian), Nick (Chelsy); very special 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was a resident in Ellet for over 60 years where along with her husband Herb became involved with sports and youth organizations. She ran the concession for Pee Wee Football and for the Ellet Athletic Association. She also ran the Ellet High School Concession for approximately 38 years, and the concession was named for her. 

She had many awards for her service. She received the George Boss Youth award for Northeast Ohio in 1981 and The Royal Orange award from Ellet High School in 1984. She was honored at a dinner by the Akron Public School in 2004 and in 2012, she was initiated into the Ellet Football Hall of Fame. She was the first female to receive that honor.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Thursday, September 19th from 10:30a.m. until the funeral service that begins at 12:30 p.m. Interment to follow the service at Hillside Memorial Park, where Eileen will be laid to rest with Herb.
