Eleanor I. Harris

Eleanor I. Harris, age 83 of Stow, Ohio, died on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 1:50 AM at Bath Manor Nursing Facility in Akron.
She was born on October 17, 1932, the daughter of the late Allen and Thelma Hout Mills.
Mrs. Harris was a homemaker, and she loved dancing, and taking care of people-a true caregiver. Everyone came first. She was an advocate for those with disabilities and those being less fortunate. In her younger years, Eleanor liked to play softball. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Eleanor was a fighter, and one of the greatest things she taught her family was to "never give up, keep going"!
Eleanor was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Akron.
Other than her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Harold H. Harris, Sr., whom she married on September 25, 1947, he preceded her in death on March 11, 1992; her daughter, Sheri Harris-Lynch; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Anna (David Cochran) Stockall, Brenda (John) Lewis, Peggy (Ron) Sloan, Harold H. (Karen) Harris, Jr., Gilbert (Bonnie) Harris, Patricia Harris, and Mark (Heather) Harris; former sons-in-law, Mike (Pam) Lynch, and Ken Stockall; 25 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; her sister, Sally Heinl; and her dear friends, Maxine and Gloria.
Eleanor's family would like to thank Bath Manor and Summa Hospice and Staff for the wonderful and tender care they gave to our mother, Eleanor.
Funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, at 1 PM, Thursday, September 1, 2016 where Rev. Phil Hulgin and Pastor Les Sutherland will celebrate Eleanor's life.
Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM.
Eleanor will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Burial Park next to her husband.
