Elizabeth Contrascier

Elizabeth "Betty" Contrascier, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2017. She was born January 12, 1930 in Toledo, OH to late parents Everett and Mary Thompson. A devoted mother and grandmother, Betty never met a stranger in her life. She had a green thumb, loved plants and animals, and was generous to a fault. Betty was a lifelong member of Grace Baptist Church and was very involved with Widows Might and Senior Saints. She retired from Springfield Schools after many years of service.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Carl; sons, Eric and Dwight; and brothers, Melvin, Robert and Patrick. She is survived by her children, Rebecca (Kevin) Heiney, Greg (Sandy) Contrascier; daughter-in-law, Pam Contrascier; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Patricia Thompson; and numerous other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Grace Baptist Church, 704 N. Firestone Blvd, Akron, with visitation held one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Betty's memory to The Humane Society or Grace Baptist Church.
