Elizabeth Cornell (Foutty) Shaffer
Elizabeth Cornell (Foutty) Shaffer,85, left this earth peacefully to be welcomed into the arms of her Lord on June 27, 2006. Born October 10, 1920 in Smithville, TN to the late James A. and Era Fuson. Elizabeth was a member of First Baptist Church in Tallmadge where she also taught Sunday school. She was an original "Rosie the Riveter", building airplanes during WWII. Elizabeth had a gentle and loving spirit who could see the good in everything. She was known for her great patience and generosity and always gave of herself to others. No matter how badly she was feeling, she always had a warm smile for everyone. Preceded in death by her first husband Russell Foutty, Sr.; her second husband Edward Shaffer; son James Shaffer; granddaughter Brittany Foutty; and brother Parker Fuson. Survivors include her son Russell (Steffani) Foutty, Jr.; daughters Penny (Richard) Bukovey and Mary (John) Just; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Marie Fuson; and special friend of 70 years Velma Evans. Calling hours will be Thursday, 5-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service Friday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home, Rev. Sandra Hutchinson officiating.
