Elizabeth "Betty" Metcalf
Betty Metcalf, 85, passed away on October 29, 2009. Betty was a member of the New Horizons Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She retired from the US Postal Service after 27 years of service. Betty enjoyed arts and crafts, taking trips with friends, and gardening. She thrived on serving others. Her pride and joy was her precious family. Preceded in death by Jack Metcalf; daughter, Elizabeth Thornton; granddaughter, Katherine Zellia; and great-grandson Draven Cunningham. Survivors include daughters, Karen (Jim) Bellett, Stephanie (Tom) Bilger, and Kimberly Metcalf; son, Jack (Shelley) Metcalf; sister, Agnes Wilder; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; special grandson and caregiver, Danny Smith; her many special friends at Chapel Hill Towers; and a host of other family members and friends. Calling hours will be Sunday, 2-5 p.m. and Monday, 10-11 a.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Interment at Tallmadge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
