Elizabeth S. "Betsy" Boso
Elizabeth S. "Betsy" Boso, 80, of Ellet, died with her family at her side on February 18, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
She was born November 27, 1931 in Buffalo, New York to the late Herbert & Anne (Lundy) Lee. She was a graduate of St. Mary High School and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Betsy was a long-time member of St. Matthew Parish where she was involved in many activities at both the church and school. She was also a member of the Charles Reymann Council of the Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary. Betsy was known for her wonderful culinary skills and was happy to share them with many. All who knew her know how much she loved to laugh. Betsy was an avid reader and card player and was active in many card clubs up until her disease no longer allowed her to be. She loved spending time with family and friends reminiscing about old times together.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1989; sister, Jeanne Lee; brothers, Herbert (Jane) and Bill Lee.
She is survived by her children, Terry (Jemmi) of Canal Fulton, Mike (Cindy) of Akron, Anne (Dennis) Griffith of Cuyahoga Falls; Jeanne (Chuck) Crofford of Akron; Paul of Akron; Matt (Kimmy) of Akron; sister, Mary Anne "Mimi" Lee of Canal Fulton; brother, Jim (Jo) Lee of Olean, NY; sister-in-law, Doris Lee of Buffalo, NY; grandchildren, Jennifer (Dan) Prexta, Amanda Boso, Lee Michael Boso, Katelynn Boso, Steven Griffith, Sarah Griffith, Michael Crofford and Kevin Crofford; great-grandchildren, Alex, Joey and Delanie Prexta; many dear nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 21 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron where prayers will be said Wednesday, February 22 at 10:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Matthew Church beginning at 10:30 AM with Fr. Mike Williamson presiding. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family requests NO FLOWERS and that memorial contributions be made in Betsy's memory to St. Matthew Church, 2603 Benton St., Akron OH 44312. A special thank you to Toni Tell who along with Betsy's dedicated children made it possible for her to stay at home up until the time she entered the hospital. The family would also like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Akron City Hospital, especially the nurses and doctors in the Palliative Care Unit for the tender, loving care they gave to Betsy in her final days.
