Ellen Evans (nee Harris), age 84, of Akron, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at her home. She was born on November 27, 1928 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to the late Clifton and Temperance Harris.
Ellen survived by her children; Judith L. (Hubert) Burns, Sandra M. (David) Collier, Becky J. (Mark) Deichert, Darla S. (William) Loft and Verlin E. Evans, II, brother Clifton J. (Francis) Harris, 4 grandchildren; Steve (Janice) Deichert, Teresa (Jef) Blevins, Jenessa Harrison and Kevin Burns, 7 great grandchildren; Conner Blevins, Collin Blevins, Madison Harrison, Cameron Blevins, Kesler Deichert, Emily Deichert and Jonah Deichert, many loved step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and relatives. Ellen was also a 'mother,' for many years, to PJ and Tammy. She was preceded in death by her parents, devoted husband Verlin E. Evans, brothers Marion and Moran Harris, grandson Keith Allen Burns.
Special thanks to Grace Hospice and Visiting Physicians for their outstanding care. Friends may call 4-7 pm on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 4, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Jimmy Ellis officiating.
