Ellen "Cookie" Lovern

Ellen "Cookie" Lovern, 77, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2023. She was born in Akron on July 27, 1945 to the late Howard and Betty Lovern.
Cookie began her career in the laundry department at Akron General Hospital. After several years, she began her work as a housekeeper at Akron Children's Hospital, retiring in 2012.
In her free time, she loved to play bingo with friends and bake cookies. Everyone in the family looked forward to receiving a tin of Christmas cookies each year. She was especially known for her date nut pinwheels.
Cookie was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her family meant everything to her. Her bright smile and loving hugs will be missed by all.
In addition to her parents, Cookie was preceded in death by her daughter, Lorrie Howe and sister, Mary Lackey.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Michael) Reichart and son, Joseph "JJ" (Tracy) Hooper Jr.; grandchildren, Adam Harouff, Ashley (Mike) Wells; great-grandchildren, AJ, Ja'Lyssa, Naomie, Elianna, and Zareena; siblings, Jan Lockhart and Thomas (Diane) Lovern; and several nieces and nephews.
Per Cookie's wishes, she will be privately laid to rest at East Liberty Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
