Ellen M. Sowash

Ellen Marie Sowash, 79, of Akron, passed away on December 8, 2023. She was born in Marietta, Ohio on May 23, 1944 to the late Floyd and Mildred {Riggs} Webber.

In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death a year to the day by her beloved husband, Frederick Sowash and their sons Jeffrey and Daniel Sowash.

Ellen is survived by her loving daughter, Kathryn (Ray) Myers; grandchildren Caleb, Justin, Noah and Charlie Sowash, Justin Myers and Stephanie Hicks; great-grandchildren Payton, Anthony, Kaylani and JJ; sister Verna Byers; sister-in-law Charlotte Wilson; brothers-in-law Bob (Diana) Sowash and Bill (Sandy) Sowash; a host of nieces and nephews and their families; many, many friends.

Ellen worked as a Head Cashier for JCPenney's. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, and played piano for services for several decades. Her faith meant the world to her, and her family above all. She was kind to everyone she met, and was the perfect example of love, integrity, and what it means to be a true Christian.

All are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 10:00 am until the memorial service begins at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Stephens officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ellen's memory are suggested to Grace Baptist Church, 704 N Firestone Blvd, Akron, OH 44306.
