Elsie Carmella Boyd, 72, of Akron, passed away December 18, 2011. Elsie was born in Akron on July 7, 1939 to the late Ross and Hazel Perrone. Elsie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to entertain and will always be remembered as a wonderful cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John L. Boyd Jr. and brothers, James, Louis, and Samuel Perrone. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 53 years, John L. Boyd Sr.; children, Carmella Chapman, Joseph (Karen) Boyd, Christine Friend, Cathie (Jim) Edwards, and Cindy Boyd; sister, Mary Peterson; brother, Rex "Junior" Flowers; grandchildren, Shawn Boyd (Crystal), Shannon Keith (Diane), Benjiman (Ann) Boyd, Carmella Friend (Timothy), Ronald Friend, Tiffany Samuels, and Cathie Samuels; great-grandchildren, Mark, Natalie, Dalton, Kaleah, Johannah, and Patricia. Visitation will be Friday December 23 from 11-1 followed by a 1 p.m. funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
