Elva N. Chewning

Elva N. Chewning, 93, of Canal Fulton, passed away November 16, 2007 at the Hospice Care Center. She was born November 30, 1913 in Beverly, West Virginia to the late Clark O. & Rachel A. (Newhouse) Tenney. Elva was a devoted mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Baranek and 6 brothers. She is survived by her daughters, Elvalee (George) Dobrin of Reynoldsburg OH and Sandra (Thomas) Herston of Canal Fulton; son, Roemer (Norma) Chewning of Tallmadge; grandchildren, Chris, Cindy, Jeanne, Andrea, Mark, Julie, Mike, Lisa and Kevin; 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Monday from 5 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Combs officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
