Elva M. Petty, 90, of Uniontown, went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2008. Elva was a past member of the Akron Baptist Temple where she belonged to the Golden Agers. She was a current member of the Temple Baptist Church where she belonged to the Sparkling Seniors. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. Elva was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and John and sister, Vera. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Baxter; daughter, Carol Jodan; son, James (Bonnie) Petty; and grandchildren, Rachel Montgomery, Renee Petty, and James Petty, Jr. Family and friends may call on Monday from 6-9 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
