Emma I. Carpenter Esch (nee Hudspath)

Emma I. Carpenter Esch (nee Hudspath), 93, passed away on November 19, 2011. Emma graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School and Actual Business School and worked for Traveler's Insurance until marriage to Wilbur Carpenter. Emma and Wilbur resided in Massachusetts and New York during his time in the US Coast Guard, later returning to Ohio. She was a volunteer for Mobile Meals, Salvation Army, and First Night. Preceded in death by her husbands, Wilbur Carpenter and Roland Esch; brother, John Hudspath; and twin grandsons, Mathew and Mark Liggett. Survivors include daughters, Kay (Dan) Greathouse and Marcia (Dave) Liggett; sister, Thelma Kline; grandchildren, Jeff Bookwalter, Jennifer Metz, Kerri Nelson, Kelli Brown; and 9 great-grandchildren. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Happy Trails Animal Sanctuary, 5623 New Milford Rd., Ravenna, OH 44266, or Mobile Meals, 1063 South Broadway St., Akron, OH 44311.
