Emma M. Cornell, 93, was wrapped in the loving arms of Jesus Christ and carried to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, October 26, 2013. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." She was greeted there by her departed husband of 49 years, whom she missed so much, Harry J. Cornell, daughter Shirley A. Jones Northcutt, son-in-law Roie C. Easterling, Jr. and many others who had gone on to Glory before her.
Emma retired from the Akron Public Schools in 1973 and has been a charter member of Grace Baptist Church for over 50 years where she enjoyed working as a Kitchen Angel, volunteering at the Haven of Rest and praying for others in the Women's Prayer Circle. She enjoyed any and all activities at the church and with her family.
Emma was a blessing in the lives of all who knew her sweet and gentle spirit. She will be greatly missed by her family that she leaves behind to grieve: daughters, Pat (Don) Nevitt and Mary (Ken) Easterling-Brown, 6 grandchildren; Harold and Chris Jones, Jason (Alyson) and Adam Easterling, Rob and Katie Nevitt and 6 great grandchildren.
We would like to thank all of the wonderful caregivers at Pebble Creek who became Mom's second family over the last nine years and took such loving care of her and our family at the time of Mom's passing. Friends may call 11 am to 1 pm on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305. A Celebration of Emma's Life will be held immediately following visitation, at 1:00 PM, at the funeral home. Final resting place will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
