Emmett J. Housley, Sr., "Bud", age 85 of Akron, Ohio died on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Briarwood Nursing Home.
He was born in Alliance, Ohio, the son of the late Dr. John Housley and Corinne Albright Housley Beach.
Emmett was a Falls High School graduate and also a graduate of the University of Akron and he also attained his Masters Degree from KSU. He was owner/operator of Housley Roofing and Spouting for nearly 40 years. He loved to travel, hike, listen to music, read, and spend time with his children and grandchildren. He had an advanced Black Belt Degree in Karate.
Survivors include his two daughters, Corinne (Larry Mullins) Housley and Laura (Art) Sherman, Sr.; grandchildren, Jeffrey Lavenau, Leanna, AJ, and Lydia Sherman; his sister, Joan Anderson; his sister-in-law, Miyako Naylor; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents, Emmett was preceded in death by his wife, the former Joann A. Naylor, on March 11, 2017, they were united in marriage on March 5, 1963; his step-father, Edward Beach; his son, Emmett J. "EJ" Housley, Jr.; his grandchildren, Annette and Amanda Sherman, and Billy Zaleski; his brothers-in-law, George Anderson and Gene Naylor; and his nephew, John Anderson.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
He will be buried next to his beloved wife and son in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Akron.
