Ernest J. Knecht, 97, of Akron, OH passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020. He was born to parents Ernest R. and Maude Knecht in Akron on December 30, 1922.
Preceding him in death is his son, Edward Knecht.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Della of 53 years; children Susan (Dennis) Arnold and John Knecht; daughter-in law Debbie Knecht; ½ sister Elsie; 3 grandchildren, Jim Arnold, Heather (Nick) Mickunas, and Brittany (Patrick) Helms; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Ernie belonged to The Chapel in Akron and in Green, was skilled in woodcarving, and playing the guitar and harmonica.
A celebration of Ernie's life will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH from 12pm-1pm with a service at 1pm.
He will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, in Rittman, OH.
