Esther A. Woods, 81, passed away on June 24, 2013. Esther was born in Akron on August 21, 1931 to the late John and Jennie Carlson. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Akron.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer; daughter, Karen Woods; brothers, Melvin and John Carlson; sisters, Hulda Schmidt and Gerry Buxton.
She is survived by daughters, Terri (Joe) Roach, Jane (John) Hainline, and Sandra Woods; son, Dennis (Carla) Woods; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Pearl Morrison; several nieces and nephews; beloved lifelong friend, Nancy; and many other special friends.
Special thanks to her dedicated caregiver and friend, Marilyn.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, 4-7 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A funeral service will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Bethany Lutheran church, 833 Carroll St., Akron. Interment to follow at Stow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 815 Carroll St., Akron, OH 44305.
