Esther M. Wilson, 89, of Akron, passed away at home surrounded by her family on April 7, 2022. She was born on January 14, 1933 in Elmira, West Virginia to the late Henry and Opal Cottrill. Esther was a longtime member of Millheim Baptist Church and worked for many years as a manager at the Corral Sandwich Shop.
She was a big fan of bluegrass and country music, and enjoyed watching old western movies. Esther was an animal lover who enjoyed starting her day by watching the birds in her backyard. She was a talented woman when it came to working in her yard and it was something she took great pride in. She loved doing puzzles as well. Esther had a big heart and was always willing to help someone in need.
In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by husband of 64 years, James C. Wilson; grandson, Reno Everett; brothers, Dolan (Ruhama), Darius (Helen), and Wallace (Evelyn) Cottrill; and sister, Celestia (Donald) Simons.
She will be deeply missed by her son, Jeff Wilson; daughter, Keely "Kim" (Robert Halbleib) James; grandsons, Kevin Norton and Cameron Chasteen; her beloved cockatiel, Rocky; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will take place on Thursday April 14, 2022 from 11am until 1pm at Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, with funeral services to follow at 1pm. Interment will be at Hillside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Millheim Baptist Church at 2661 Hayne Rd, Akron, OH 44312.
