Ethel M. Burns, age 85, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2008 at the Palliative Care and Hospice Center at Akron City Hospital. Ethel was born on July 4, 1922 and lived in Akron most of her life. She is survived by her husband, Duane Burns, of 66 years; her 3 children, Nancy Lukinac, Patrick Burns (Geri), and Michael Burns; her 3 grandchildren, Brian Burns (Stefanie), Michelle Dame (Dan) and Maria Lukinac-Frazer (Noel). She is also survived by her 6 great-grandchildren, Sara, Samantha, and Sofie Burns, Emily, Allison, and Luke Dame; and many dear friends and family. Ethel was employed by the Akron Public Schools at Glover Elementary School for 17 years. She was a charter member of the Southeast Church of the Nazarene. Ethel loved her church, her family and friends. She loved to be social. Ethel was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be truly missed. Many thanks to Rockynol, Maison Aine in Stow, and the Palliative Care and Hospice at Summa for all the wonderful care they gave to Ethel. Calling hours will be Saturday, 10-11 a.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. with a funeral service following at 11 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
