Eugene Paul Doran, 81, sadly passed away on July 14, 2020. Eugene was born on November 29, 1938 to his devoted parents, the late Sherwood Paul and Katherine 'Louise' Dunham and his 15 month old sister, Sue Ann.
Sherwood and Louise provided a loving Christian home and a happy childhood for Eugene and his siblings. Eugene went to Hollywood High School, Hollywood, California, along with his sister Sue, during the same years of the late, famous Natalie Wood. Sue and Eugene were close in age and had a great brother, sister relationship. When Sandy was born he was a wonderful older brother. He was, especially, happy that she was a bit of a Tom boy. Then when Kathy, the youngest was born, Eugene must have quietly said, along with his dad, "Another girl?!" Even though he was surrounded by female siblings he was a great older brother. The whole family was sad that Eugene moved to Mansfield, Ohio in his mid 20's. However, they were happy that he became a successful licensed plumber through his hard work, generosity and the gift of gab. He then met Wesley and Mildred Doran who were in the antique business. He started working with them, buying and selling antiques. He became an expert Antique Dealer. The Doran's fell in love with him and became part of his family. Eugene never moved back to California but his family looked forward to his visits and visiting him. A memorable visit was in 1966. Eugene took his mom, dad and younger sisters out on a beautiful lake with his ski boat. Sandy was an avid water skier but Kathy had never skied. She said that she will never forget that amazingly, fun visit. Eugene worked hard but knew how to take time to relax, be active and entertain.
In addition to his beloved parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Anne Savage; by his niece Danielle, Luana's daughter and Sue's granddaughter; and by Wesley and Mildred Doran.
Eugene will be dearly missed by: his sisters Sandy and family of Virginia; Kathy Ruzycki and family of Illinois, Idaho, and Oregon; his 50+ nieces and nephews, great and great, great of California and throughout the beautiful USA. He also leaves many dear cousins.
Eugene had a wonderful, unforgettable smile and quick wit. He didn't like to say good bye. Our loving, caring father taught us to say 'So long', not 'Good bye'.
Until we meet, again, "So long Eugene!"
Private services will be held for Eugene at a later date.
