Eugene O. Hedrick

Eugene O. Hedrick, Sr. "Gene-O" 76, of Akron, passed away peacefully with his daughters at his side on December 20, 2017. Gene was born on December 9, 1941 in Warren, Ohio, the son of the late Riley Hedrick and Airrie Dell Hedrick-Bugay. Gene retired from ACME as a meat cutter with 30 years of service. He was a fun loving guy and very handy with fixing anything, and he loved his dog Toby with all of his heart.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his son, Eugene O. Hedrick, Jr., and brothers-in-law, Lenny Cummins and Jack Albertson.

Gene is survived by his daughters, Renee (Gary) Moyers, and Michelle (Pete) Flower; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Faye) Hedrick; sisters, Joann (Sam) Gentile, Betty Cummins, Bonnie (Tom) Himler and Glendora (Bill) Hess, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the Hospice staff at Akron City Hospital for going above and beyond in providing excellent care.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Gene's honor to Summa Health Palliative Care and Hospice Service.
