Eugene C. Humbert

Eugene C. Humbert, "Gene or Geno", 70, passed away at his home after a lengthy illness on October 27, 2022. He was born on August 12, 1952 in Akron, Ohio to the late Carl and Gertrude Humbert. He lived his entire life in Akron, graduating from Ellet High School in 1970. Gene was married 32 years to his wife, Karen, whom he met while working at Food Park on Darrow Road. He worked at Food Park for 19 years and then at Giant Eagle on Waterloo Road, where he retired in 2014. In his free time Gene enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his dog, Autumn. He enjoyed humor in his life and also loved winning on instant lottery tickets.

Preceded in death by his parents, Gene will be sadly missed by his wife, Karen; son, Jason; granddaughter, Lauren; siblings, Sandy White, twin sister, Gail (Lou) Schilling, Karen (Kevin) George; brothers-in-law, John "David" (Sherry) Mino, Jim Mino; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will take place Monday, November 7 at 1 p.m. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Gene's name to the Humane Society of Summit County.
