Our beloved mother, Eva Isabella Geiger, 96, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the Aultman Hospice Center in Canton, Ohio on February 14, 2016.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan on Sept. 13, 1919, daughter of Anthime and Rosalie LaPlante. Eva was raised by her father and stepmother Anna.
She was married to Adam Anthony Geiger (deceased) for 43 years. Together they raised ten children. Eva is preceded in death by her two sisters and two brothers.
She leaves her sister, Pauline Brousseau. Eva was preceded in death by two children, Rose Marie Shoemaker and Patricia Schoeppner. She is survived by eight children, Joan Geiger, Thomas Geiger (Penny), Eva Holmes (Jerry), Frances Vivian (Jeff), Michelle Kapity (Jim), Victoria Buckwalter (Kenny), Matthew Geiger, and Martin Geiger. Eva is also survived by her loving son-in-law, Richard Schoeppner. She was blessed with many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
Eva retired from Akron General Medical Center. She enjoyed gardening, travel with her children, playing games and loved Chinese food. Until a few years ago, while living in Florida, she was very active, playing shuffleboard and riding her three wheeled bicycle. She was strong, witty, and mentally sharp until shortly before her passing.
Visitation will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2603 Benton Ave, Akron 44312 on Saturday, February 20th 9:30-11:00 a.m. with funeral mass at 11:00. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
