Evelyn Rose Lay, 85, of Akron, passed away on August 28, 2016. She was born in Akron on November 20, 1930 to the late Gabriel and Rose File.
Evelyn was a member of Arlington Memorial Baptist Church. She was a talented pianist, a wonderful cook, and she loved to travel. Above all, Evelyn was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Lay and brother, Arnold File. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Terrence Lay; daughter, Janice McBee; grandchildren, Sarah and Nathan Krieg, Jacob McBee, and Emma and Nevan Zook; and great-granddaughter, Addie Krieg.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 10-11 followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service with Pastor Dave Bogue officiating at Arlington Memorial Baptist Church, 2330 E. Market St., Akron. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
