Evelyn Westergaard, 89, of Akron, passed away September 3, 2009 at the Hospice Care Center. She was born July 11, 1920 in Buchtel OH to the late Harry & Emily (Shepard) Conley. Evelyn served in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) and later worked at Forest City. She was a member of Lakemore United Methodist Church for 55 years. Evelyn loved ballroom dancing. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Ann Sutton; brothers, John Thomas, Harry and Dale; and sisters, Edith, Audrey, Ada and Laura. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Peter M. Westergaard; sons, Tom and Harry (Becky) Westergaard; grandchildren, Barbara (Michael), Chris, Kaia and Sean (Teresa); great-grandchildren, Jacqui, Victoria (William), Rorri, Mavrick and Deklin; great-great-grandchildren, Draven and Kendra; and sister, Marion. Calling hours will be Monday from 6 – 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron and Tuesday from 10 – 11 a.m. at Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Rd., Akron OH 44312, where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Gindlesberger officiating.
