Felix Aliers (Jose) Jr., 77, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016 from lung cancer. He was born on August 20, 1939 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Felix Sr. and Guadalupe. Felix came to the United States at the age of 15 with his uncle. He finished his education. As a youth he competed in Golden Glove Boxing tournaments. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Felix had a strong work ethic and worked various jobs, beginning at the age16, before retiring from The Imperial Electric Company after 26 years of service. He loved spending time with his family and friends, taking morning walks, gardening, all sports, casinos, and playing the lottery. But his passion in life was music and he was a talented singer and musician. In the mid 70's, he was known as The Freddy Fender of Ohio, for the uncanny way he looked and sounded like the late singer. He entertained with several bands over the course of his life, playing a variety of music. He volunteered at 91.3 radio station for 6 years as an announcer for the Latin Hour.
Felix was a life member of The Orioles Nest #167, a member of the VFW Post No. 3383, and a member of The Country and Western Music Association. His final years were spent helping neighbors in his retirement community with anything they needed. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Felix was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine, sister Manuela and brother Juan.
He will be forever missed by his loving wife of 40 years, Reta, sons Rico (Shelly), Ronald, Robert (Micki), step-children Bob Liston and Lorie Gentner, sisters Luz Vera and Maria (Daniel) Pagan, brothers Victor and Ramon. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many other family members. Special friends Charles (Janice) Barton and Carlos (Gloria) Fuentes.
Felix faced his illness the same way he lived each day. With strength, courage and dignity. Thank you to The Summa Hospice Team for their wonderful care and support. To family and friends for their cards, calls, prayers, visits and other acts of kindness during this difficult time.
