Florence Ann Clark

September 10, 1939 — August 14, 2021

Florence Ann (Treesh) Clark of Sebastian, Florida (formerly of Uhrichsville, Ohio) was surrounded by her family when she died peacefully on August 14, 2021. She was born in Akron, Ohio on September 10, 1939 to Wilton Treesh and Nina (Crowe) Treesh. In 1958, she graduated from Coventry High School, where she played trombone in the marching band and was a member of the synchronized swim team. Florence received a bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Akron and a master's degree in Educational Counseling from Kent State University.

Flo loved her children and grandchildren. Her dedication and generous investment of time and resources into their lives have left a living legacy that will continue to impact the world for many years. Her love overflowed beyond her family, as she was an encourager, helper, teacher, good friend, volunteer, and caretaker to many. Flo deeply appreciated being outside in God's creation, where she enjoyed swimming, water skiing, camping, gardening, painting, and cruising in her convertible. Her other passions included reading novels, taking care of her dogs and cats, cooking and baking, practicing yoga, sewing, knitting and crocheting, listening to folk and classical music, playing piano, and learning.

Mrs. Clark was passionate about her professional work as a teacher. She taught in a variety settings, including elementary (St Joseph's in Cuyahoga Falls, The River School at Kashi), special education (Akron City Schools), and behavioral- and learning-disability classes (Claymont City Schools). As an educator, she invested in the lives of many students and their families, both in the classroom and beyond. Additionally, she worked for more than a decade as a Life Saving instructor for the Red Cross. Flo also served the HIV/AIDS community, nurturing the sick and teaching AIDS Mastery workshops with her friend James.

Flo was preceded in death by both of her parents and her husband, Richard E. Clark. She is survived by children, Lonnie (Mary) Welch, Tim (Silvia) Welch, and Chris (Tracy) Clark; step-children, Patty Clark, Gina Lough, and Richard Clark; grandchildren, Matthew, Josh (Jeanna), Kristin, Sarah, Cody, Jacob, and Ellie Welch; great grandchild, Caleb Welch; brother, Wilton Treesh; and sister, Roberta (Lyle) Ferreira.

The family expresses deep gratitude to Stacy E., and to the staff from Landing of Stow and Crossroads Hospice for their compassionate care for Flo.
