Florence R. DeMita
Florence R. (nee Hudkins) DeMita passed away at home on September 27, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She loved quilting, crafts, and especially cooking for family and friends. Florence enjoyed collecting Dept. 56 Houses. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lynwood and Opal Hudkins; and brother, Lynwood Hudkins. Florence is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Thomas DeMita; brothers, Wayne (Jane) Hudkins, and Arch (Nancy) Hudkins; brother-in-law, Jerry (Sandy) DeMita; children, Rebecca Higgins-Mayhew, Kimberly (Tom) Sain, David (Gayle) Bird, Colleen (Brett) Padgett, Jennifer (Mike) Mercer, and Roger (Tyann) Bird; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends. Calling hours will be held Friday, September 30, from 5 to 8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a service will be held Saturday, October 1, at 12 noon with Rev. Diane Richmond officiating.
