Francelle Gillentine

January 16, 1935 — September 7, 2021

Francelle Gillentine, 86, of Akron, passed away peacefully at home on September 7, 2021. Francelle was born on January 16, 1935 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late W.M. "Bill" and Lillie Mae Ward. Francelle loved the Lord and had a heart for missionary work and nursing home ministries. For many years, she and her son Ed visited local nursing homes to bring cheer, Christmas cards, and music to the residents. Her most recent church home was Christian Community Church.
In her free time, Francelle enjoyed rooting for the Cleveland Indians, crocheting, knitting, crosswords, and jigsaw puzzles. She was a longtime member of the Allenside Athletic Club and signed up for every bus trip and outing they offered.
In addition to her parents, Francelle was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Gillentine and son-in-law, Jeff Tawney. She will be dearly missed by her children, Edward, Ronald (Judy), Robert (Judy), and Maylee Tawney; grandchildren, Marie, Kristy, and Steven; step-grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, and Sarah; great-grandchild, Emmeline; and many step-great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held and Francelle will be laid to rest at Woods Cemetery in Uniontown.
