Emma Boykin, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, was called home on June 15, 2024, at the age of 82. Emma was born in Memphis, TN on December 29, 1941 to Mary Elizabeth Wright (Jones) and Robert Wright.
Emma attended Kent City Schools and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1960. Emma dedicated 28 years of her career to Daimler Chrysler, where she worked as a spot welder, retiring in 2005.
An avid sports fan, Emma’s loyalty to all Cleveland teams was well-known among her friends and family as she rarely missed a game and could often be found cheering on her favorite teams with unwavering enthusiasm.
Emma also had a love for tabloid magazines, always staying up-to-date with the latest celebrity gossip. Her evenings were often spent enjoying the western channel, where she indulged in her favorite western films and shows. She showed her love through baking and her favorite thing to make was a pound cake, which was a family favorite!
Above all, Emma cherished spending time with her family. Her warmth, love, generosity, and kindness created a close-knit family environment filled with joy and laughter. She leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and fond memories that will forever be treasured by her loved ones.
Emma leaves to cherish her memory, son-in-law Gary Milton; former son-in-law Dwayne (Vesta) Jones; bonus daughters Sheilah Boykin of Kent, OH; Fanette (Bernard) Taylor of Columbus, OH; bonus sons Wendell (Zara) Boykin of Maricopa, AZ; Brian Boykin of Kent, OH; sisters Terri (Tony) Burrell; Carmen Douglas of Kent, OH; brother Donald (Karen) Douglas Jr., of Bexley, OH; grandchildren, Deidrick Taylor of Kent, OH; Derrick Taylor of Akron, OH; Pierre Jones of Kent, OH; Kandise (Clifton) Young of Pickerington, OH, and Demitre Jones of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; great-grandchildren Ambrea Henson, Anija Taylor, Harper, Brielle, and Collins Young, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Emma was preceded in death by her mother Mary (Jones) Wright; father Robert Wright; husband, William T. Boykin Sr., daughter Pamela Milton; bonus daughter Adrienne Coleman; bonus son William T. Boykin Jr. (Tommy); sisters Rosetta Tucker; Theresa Wright; great-grandson Deiondre Taylor, and nephew Todd Burrell.
Emma Boykin's life was a testament to hard work, passion, and love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Emma's life will be held on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44305. Family and friends are invited to attend and pay their respects. A repast will follow at Kent Social Services, 1066 S. Water St., Kent, OH 44240.
