Frank Clifford Smith, 83, of Akron went to be with the Lord on August 19, 2010 after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Frank was born December 26, 1926 in Salem, Ohio to the late Frank and Josephine Smith. He earned a civil engineering degree from the University of Akron and proudly served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Korea. He retired from the Summit County Engineers Office. Frank was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandpa and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Lois (nee Brueggeman); daughters, Donna (Robert) Nelisse and Susan (Gerald) Young; grandchildren, Laura Young and Andrew Young; and many other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank Pastor Joshua A. Schoon for his prayers and support during Frank's illness. They would also like to thank the staff at Hospice Care Center for all the loving and compassionate care given to Frank and his family. Visitation will be Saturday from 10-11 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at Zion Lutheran Church, 139 S. High St., Akron. Burial will take place on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, with procession forming at Newcomer Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Carillon Fund or Budget Fund.
