Frank H. Deem
Frank H. Deem, 78, of Akron, passed away March 9, 2009 at Akron City Hospital. He was born April 21, 1930 in Fairmont, West Virginia to the late James & Elizabeth (Copen) Deem. Frank served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and received two Purple Hearts. Above all, he was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Frank loved his baby sister and brother. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Casto and Wilma Webb; brothers, James, Wayne and Chester Deem. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce (Gene) Scritchfield; sons, Franklin and Troy Deem; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Amy Long; and brother, Charles Deem. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 – 7 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Graveside services will be conducted at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Friday at 11 a.m.
